A poem for National Poetry Month

In the hopes of inspiring other to participate in my literary journal YARN‘s cool National Poetry Month poem-a-day project, I have written a short poem in response to Day 3‘s prompt:  ”Write directions for preparing food.  The food can be simple (a glass of rain) or outrageous (cooking the world’s last antelope)—you decide.”

TO DO
TODAY:
check local CSA
guidelines
then
feel guilty
about the out of season
eggplant
I bought
then
I cooked poorly
(in a jarred sauce)
(and too-smoky cheese)
and now
want to throw
away
