TINAWM is featured!

Boston GlobeJuly 28:  I’m sending a BIG Thank you to Jan Gardner of The Boston Globe, who featured This is Not a Writing Manual in her “Notes from the Street” column, and gave it a very nice review indeed: “Kerri Majors manages to combine the best of two publishing genres — memoir and advice — in a highly readable book”–And there’s more!!

July 19 – I received a Google Alert this morning telling me that TINAWM had been blogged by Jennifer Lu at The Horn Book.  She discussed it alongside another cool writing book for kids by Catherine Lewis.  This is such an honor (thanks, Horn Book!!), and I’m just so grateful that Claudean’s awesome cover drew Jennifer in.

July 18: I was stunned and thrilled down to my toes today to get tagged in a Twitter post by Blaire Thornburgh of Quirk Books notifying me that This is Not a Writing Manual had been featured ALONGSIDE On Writing by Stephen King and Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott (my two most favorite writing books!).

Well.  You could have knocked me over with a feather.

Blaire also features some other really excellent books about writing that we writers ought to take a closer look at–again or anew if we haven’t already.  (Have you ever read Elements of Style narratively, cover to cover?  If you haven’t, I highly recommend it–it’s a very engaging read.)

TINAWM was also featured on examiner.com’s list of July YA releases!  Thanks to Nisha Sharma for including me.

This whole book launch thing is exhausting, I’m not going to lie.  And my novel has been languishing.  But compliments like these really buoy me up.  We’re all on this road together, and it’s so nice to feel like I’m part of a wider community of writers.
